George Washington, according to Wikipedia, was born on February 22, 1732 in the town of Bridge Creek, located in the countryside, which was then still called the colony of Virginia. His father, Augustine was the owner of the tobacco plantations and at the time it was his second marriage. He died when the boy was 11 years old. George Washington himself was the third of five children and up to 16 years, he was brought up and educated at home. The boy was interested in naval career, his half-brother Lawrence, who served in the Royal Navy, was a good example for George.

In 1754, with the onset of the French and Indian War (British war with the French and the Indians. It was also called the Seven Years' War), George Washington commanded the Virginia militia group, and at that time he held the rank of colonel. In 1755, he participated in the campaign to Fort Duquesne, Ohio. In 1759, he resigned and married a rich widow with two children. Her name was Marta Dandridge Custis (1731-1802 yy.). However, he never had his own children.

George Washington was fond of agricultural business of his manor and always invited guests. He was elected to the Chamber of Virginia's citizens. George Washington criticized the British government, in his opinion it did not allow the colonies to develop their domestic economy.

On June 15-th, 1755, the Second Continental Congress took place, where for bravery and an impeccable reputation George Washington was elected as a Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. War for independence started and lasted until 1783. During that time, George spent quite a significant part of his wealth. He showed himself as an honest,  brave and fair leader, not aspiring to universal power. He only fought for his ideas and for the ideas of his allies. After the war, he immediately returned to his manor and continued social and political life. In 1787, the Constitutional Convention made him the chairman. He supported the idea of creating the Constitution, which now operates in America.

April 30, 1789 George Washington ascended to the presidency of a young country - the United States of America. He was an example of selflessness, integrity, perseverance and courage. George Washington distinguished himself as a strong leader, and so in 1792 he was elected for a second term, but he refused to run for a third. During his presidency, he expertly suppressed the uprising of people dissatisfied with his policies.

He preferred to negotiate with the Indians, and he even personally went to negotiations with the leaders. However, he did not hesitate to use force and to lead them to war if no compromise was reached. He did not like the slave system but its rapid eradication he considered impossible. Even in his will he expressed the desire thus all his slaves were released after the death of his wife. In foreign policy, George Washington held the position of non-interference. He issued a decree on neutrality. He urged people to be united and to maintain peaceful relations with other states. From his supply, America followed the path of isolationism for a long time, as George Washington called for trade cooperation with the countries and not to political union with them. The last years of his life he spent in Mount Vernon, in his favorite house. George Washington died on December 14, 1799 from the severe cold.

1) George Washington had false teeth. According to legend, his teeth were made of wood, but in fact they were carved from animal bone.

2) Throughout US history, Washington remains the tallest president. He was broad-shouldered, and his growth was almost 190 cm.

3) George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, according to the old (Julian) style, when the government approved the Gregorian style all dates were postponed to 11 days ago, the date of birth should be on 11 February. But Washington preferred to celebrate the holiday according to the old style.

George Washington proved to be one of the most impressive figures in the history of the United States, and he played a huge role in the development of the country.
